Wellness Wednesday with Kelly LeVeque

I love to eat and drink… Maybe even a little too much! And when it comes to this festive time of year my self control is put to the test. That is why I reached out to wellness expert and friend Kelly LeVeque for some pointers on how to avoid holiday weight gain. Some of the things I already do like work out the day of party and the day after because it always makes me feel better mentally and physically. Even when I am feeling very slow (aka hungover) I still at least go for a walk with a child or four. 🙂 I have found the toughest part about exercising the day after the party is finding the motivation, but once I get going I always feel better. Other pointers are new to me like eating a little protein before going to a party to help stabilize blood sugar and reaching for a little dark chocolate over a lot of fruit.

I also love the encouragement to say no to the foods we don’t want to eat. We have all been there where we feel guilty or peer pressured into eating (sometimes drinking) certain things, but we shouldn’t feel bad saying no. Of course, I would never want you to be rude, but I also want to respect my body. Like everything there is balance to be found in this.

Lastly, I encourage all of us to be kind to ourselves. Having fun with friends and enjoying all that this time of year has to offer is important too. So let’s head into holidays with the mindset that we can still do that and not gain an excessive amount of weight. It is possible to have your cake and eat it too… On occasion. 🙂 xx

Philanthropy

Because it is always chic to give.  As moms we are always giving and most of the time it is not even appreciated until our children are much older (let's hope!) So it may seem challenging to give to anyone else, but we should all try no matter how little the amount or the time. Thinking outside of ourselves is good for our hearts and those of our children.
