How to Look like a Celebrity this Valentine’s

Today celebrity make-up artist, fabulous friend and amazing mommy Lynn Simpson tells us how we can look like a celebrity this Valentine’s Day.
It was after she recently did my make-up for my birthday bash that I was dying for her to share her process and inspiration with you all. Turns out she was influenced by some pretty gorgeous women (no wonder I loved my look!) and now you too can get that look. Thank you Lynn for making this V day just a little more beautiful! xx Jess

I’m loving all of the matte makeup these days. You see it all over Instagram with Kylie Jenner inspired lip colors of burnt beiges, browns and mauves. Then there are also beautiful smoky eyes using matte shadows. The best part of this trend is that the new formulas out there are smooth, weightless and comfortable to wear. These are not the chalky, dry, overly powdered looking products from the 90’s.
For Jessica’s birthday look we were inspired by these looks from a few decades ago and of course, the fashion muse, Kate Moss. For a modern twist we incorporated a dewy, fresh looking skin using Hourglass Veil Fluid Makeup. I set the foundation with Ben Nye Banana Powder , and then sprayed MAC Prep + Prime Fix + to enhance the dewy glow.
We created a matte smoky eye using burnt beiges and browns. I pretty much always use Too Faced Shadow Insurance under any eye shadow to keep it from smudging and fading. Then I took MAC Costa Riche Eye Liner and used that as my color base for this smoky look to quickly build depth at the lash line. For extra drama line the lower lash line and inner rim. I used NARS Matte Eye Shadow in Sophia to blend over Costa Riche Eye Liner to create a soft smoky look. Make sure to blend it on the lower lash line as well. We highlighted the brow bone with Makeup Forever M500 in Ivory. Lashes always make everything better! So we used Ardell Demi Wispies for some extra glam.
Since the eyes were in the terra cotta family, we continued this monochromatic look using Guerlain Bronzer in #3, and lightly brightened the cheeks with YSL Blush in Bohemian.  For the lips, we lined it with Chanel Aqua Crayon in Cinnamon and used Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss in Expressive.

Because it is always chic to give.  As moms we are always giving and most of the time it is not even appreciated until our children are much older (let's hope!) So it may seem challenging to give to anyone else, but we should all try no matter how little the amount or the time. Thinking outside of ourselves is good for our hearts and those of our children.
