The first week of August in Santa Barbara has been a tradition dated back to the early 1920’s. The people of Santa Barbara have long been proud of their city’s heritage from Spanish founders and from the Spanish, Mexican and North American pioneers who first settled here and built the city. Colorful music, dance, and song together with a spirit of friendliness, hospitality and tolerance have been a tradition as part of their heritage, which the Fiesta “Old Spanish Days in Santa Barbara” seeks to preserve and to continue as a tradition indefinitely.
To celebrate this week, living in Santa Barbara, you always eat Mexican food more then once (or multiple times a week) because De La Guerra Plaza food is too good to pass up during this week. So in honor of “Old Spanish Days in Santa Barbara”, I made a yummy pulled pork tostada with a twist on jicama “tortillas”. If you have never visited Santa Barbara’s “Fiesta” week, it’s a week not to miss.
Enjoy and come visit “Fiesta” in Santa Barbara.
