Goodbye Summer Party Chic: Hangover Remedies

While we are not necessarily proud of it, even us “perfect” moms overindulge some times leading us to pay the price the next day. And that price is particularly high when woken up at 6am by a crying baby or a child asking you to make him or her pancakes. Unfortunately, I have been in this boat(or shall I say sinking ship) many times… yes, I admit it, I am a mommy that likes to let loose from time to time. Although each time I do wake up to a pounding head and a demanding child I promise I will never do it again… and then I do.

However, as I have become older and a tiny bit “wiser” it does happen less. When the dreaded hangover does hit I have a few ways that I ease the pain. The first is I take a Vitamin B Complex and Advil with a big glass of water. I also like to get a little exercise when I muster up the energy. Likely, this is the last thing you want to do after a night of debauchery, but it really does help (usually!). It must have something to do with sweating out the toxins and the endorphin release. So even if it is just going for a walk, I encourage you to try it.

The other necessity is to hydrate. Oddly, I don’t always crave water (I know this is fairly common) so I reach for a coconut water and sparkling water with a splash of juice. Something about the carbonation tastes so good.

Finally, sleep will always help. So try to get to bed early the night after the big party or even try to squeeze in a nap if you can convince your kiddos to do the same. And if they won’t nap it is a good excuse for a movie. So snuggle in for some Rio 2 and cut yourself some slack. You can always take them to the park tomorrow. xx

Philanthropy

Because it is always chic to give.  As moms we are always giving and most of the time it is not even appreciated until our children are much older (let's hope!) So it may seem challenging to give to anyone else, but we should all try no matter how little the amount or the time. Thinking outside of ourselves is good for our hearts and those of our children.
