Beauty Week: Skin Chic

jessica's_beautyessentials

You know what they say, “Mother knows Best” and in this case I am talking about my own mommy! She always talked to me about the importance of taking care of your skin and I am glad I actually listened!

Below are some of my go to products of the moment. I tend to switch around, but I always have the same basic routine. In the morning a moisturizer with sunscreen is key.  It took me awhile to find one I love that had sunscreen, but found one in this La Prairie cream. I admit it is pricey, but you really only have to use a little so it lasts. Plus, I decided my face just had to have it. We all have our pick me ups from time to time, right?  However, there are other great options for those that can’t handle the steep price.

Another MCbJ skin essential is eye cream twice a day: morning and evening. I am pretty sure I should have started this a while ago, but better late than never! My eye cream by Trish McEvoy helps with not just fine lines, but black under eye circles as well!  This is a necessity for any sleep deprived mommy… AHEM, most of us. Which begs the question of why my kids only want to sleep in on the days we already HAVE to get up early? I mean what is that?? A cruel joke if you ask me. Topic for another time!

But for now, back to beautiful skin. For the evening, I use a gentle cleanser followed by a skin resurfacing cream like this AHA cream by Michelle Copeland. My mom turned me on to this one and I have been happy with the results. Great for evening out skin tone and making skin look younger, and who doesn’t want that?

Also, important for smooth, fresh skin is exfoliation. I exfoliate once a week with this Epicuren product and oh it feels so good! I love the thought of getting rid of dead skin cells. Weird? Maybe, but surely I am not alone on this.

Lastly, body lotion. Hydration is key to keeping our skin looking young. Apply as often as you can think of it, and make sure to drink plenty of water. In order to do this I always have water with me in the car aka my second home. So raise that bottle (of water) and cheers to your beautiful and happy skin! xx

Because it is always chic to give.  As moms we are always giving and most of the time it is not even appreciated until our children are much older (let's hope!) So it may seem challenging to give to anyone else, but we should all try no matter how little the amount or the time. Thinking outside of ourselves is good for our hearts and those of our children.
