Boho Chic Week: Beach Wave Hair

To complete your boho chic look you simply must have the perfect hair! However, as moms there is one problem with this…and this problem is time! And then when we do have time we are often so frazzled we can’t even figure out what to do with our hair (that may or may not have been brushed, let alone washed that day). Yet, never fear MCbJ has the perfect solution to this problem: Beach Waves! Whether your hair is a little dirty or a little tangled you can still pull off this fab look in a matter of minutes. We have here two ways to do it here. One is when you actually have time to wash your hair and style it, and the other can be done on the fly. And don’t forget your products. They too will make it easier to achieve your perfect boho beach hair. Now all you need is to throw on your maxi, adorn yourself in tourquoise jewels, and grab your fringe bag. C’est trés mommy chic! xx

bohohair Here’s our way of getting that perfect beachy waves:

1) On towel-dried hair, spray generous amount of thickening spray or sea salt spray (we love the Surf Spray by Bumble and Bumble) to add some texture.

2) Evenly spray heat protection spray and scrunch dry damp hair, moving side-to-side while blow drying your hair.

3) Take a curling wand (use the one that has at least a one inch rod) and wrap hair around it. We like to use this one but if you don’t want to buy it then you can also make one out of a regular curling iron (click here for instructions).

4) Wrap the hair away from the face when you’re working with the sides of your head. Make sure to hold the iron vertically and leave the ends (about 1/2 an inch) out. As you get towards the back, wrap it in different directions to give it more of a natural look.

5) Hold the curls while hot and gently stretch them.

6) Rub a tiny amount of styling cream between palms and flip your hair upside down. Run your fingers through the curls for a tousled aka I just woke up like this look.

7) Finish the look with a spritz of hair spray to hold the curls through out the day.

Once you get used to curling your hair, it takes about 10 minutes (depending on the thickness of your hair) to get the look. But when you don’t even have 10 minutes to spare, which happens frequently, you can also get a similar look by simply braiding towel-dried hair into two pigtails and blow dry your hair. For step-by-step instructions, watch Rachel Zoe’s mane man, Joey Maalouf, work his magic under 3 minutes.

with love,

MCbJ

Because it is always chic to give.  As moms we are always giving and most of the time it is not even appreciated until our children are much older (let's hope!) So it may seem challenging to give to anyone else, but we should all try no matter how little the amount or the time. Thinking outside of ourselves is good for our hearts and those of our children.
