Pregnancy Style Tour 4.0: Weeks 13-14

My belly has officially begun to stick out and with that my hips have grown wider, taking my booty along for the ride. Despite this being my 4th pregnancy, I still find this time period a little bit of a struggle image-wise. It is a time where you don’t quite have that adorable bump, but you do have the other less flattering things that happen to your body.

So the challenge becomes making it clear that the “gut” is indeed a baby bump or finding a chic way to entirely cover it. This week of style I have done both. And remember whenever you’re feeling self-conscious, just rub your belly. Unless you are Santa Claus this is definitely an indicator that there is something growing inside you and not just the cheeseburger you ate for lunch.

And for my non-pregnant readers, everything here is actually non-maternity clothing (a common theme you will find in many of these posts) so you may find some things you love as well. Enjoy your weekend beautiful ladies!! xx

Weeks 13-14

This adorable jumpsuit is another one of the fabulous items I picked up at Target on the “heater/humidifier mission” I mentioned last Saturday. I didn’t even try it on as my Elle was with me and we all know how fun the dressing room game can be with a toddler. So I took my chances and figured I could exchange it for like a million other things if it didn’t work out. This is scarily my motto when it comes to Target, but so far it has worked for me. So, this jumpsuit. My hope when I bought it was that I could get the waistband/tie under my teeny bump and it worked out. It is actually the first time I have worn a jumpsuit while pregnant and I love it! The key is the fit: If there is a tie or waistband, make sure it falls below your belly. This particular jumpsuit is not maternity but I will look into finding maternity style jumpsuits.

Saturday Night

Just like I have never worn a jumpsuit in previous pregnancies, I have also never worn a cut-out dress, but guess what? I loved how it looked! This, like the jumpsuit, could go one of two ways- really good or really bad! However, I bought this Rachel Zoe dress before finding out I was pregnant back in September (yes, I shop way ahead of time) and I was really disappointed that I wouldn’t be wearing it this year. Then I decided to try it on… I mean, what was the worst that could happen? It could make me totally depressed and feel like a whale? I decided to take that chance and I am glad I did! I even realized that the material is stretchy enough that I will be able to wear it again once I have a bigger baby bump and I am already excited about that! So moral of this story is to try on those clothes that could possibly still look good. Realize there is a chance of the aforementioned, but there is also a chance of total pregger chicness.

Sunday Style

This was another purchase I made before finding out I was pregnant that also works wonderfully while pregnant. You would actually be surprised how many things you do have that can work while pregnant – you just have to think about another way to wear them. For this vest I am not large enough that I cannot zip it up but when I do get there I plan to wear it the same way, only unzipped, like a frame for my belly.  Also, pictured here my new favorite sunglasses that I birthday gifted myself last week.

Casual Tuesday

Along with black dresses, another pregnancy staple of mine is leggings and a long, loose t-shirt. The “jeggings” pictured here date all the way back to pregnancy #2 and I can’t believe I still have them, but I do and I am glad. Now, obviously you cannot buy these exact same ones (unless you want mine and for the right price I am open to it. 🙂 ), but Hue at Nordstroms has several ones available. Also, at Nordstroms in the Brass Plum (BP) area are some amazing t-shirts at juniors prices. This t-shirt, available now, is cut perfect for the pregnant mom (I am sure that is what the makers of this juniors shirt were thinking when they designed it). It accentuates the belly, has a flattering cut for the boobies and covers up your rear. Pretty much perfect, right?!? Just remember to size up as needed.

PS- if that soccer uniform looks large that is because it belongs to his older brother whom he worships! In fact you can see Tommy in this same uniform in the jumpsuit photo as well. If he had it his way he would wear a soccer uniform all day, everyday. It’s a battle… a cute battle, but still a battle since I won’t let him wear 24/7. At least here we are actually headed out to his soccer class:).

Work Chic

For a day of meetings I chose one of my pregnancy clothing must-haves: a long black cotton dress. I have one in every sleeve length- tank, short sleeve and long sleeve. It is a style staple. Throughout your pregnancy you can wear this dress in many different ways. Think of it like a canvas that can be decorated with a scarf, a jacket, a vest, a sweater, layers of necklaces… the list is endless. So, find that black cotton dress (or dresses) and play with your accessories. It is an easy way to be comfy and preggers chic!

Because it is always chic to give.  As moms we are always giving and most of the time it is not even appreciated until our children are much older (let's hope!) So it may seem challenging to give to anyone else, but we should all try no matter how little the amount or the time. Thinking outside of ourselves is good for our hearts and those of our children.
