Mom Crush Monday: Mandy Roberson of Momma Society

Mandy and I first connected over social media in the beginning of this year when she was first launching her site Momma Society. I had fun creating a piece for her readers all about “Nursing in Style“. Since then we have stayed connected. It has been so fun to watch her go from being a beautiful pregnant mommy preparing for the arrival of her first baby to now being a new mom to an absolutely adorable baby boy. She has been so generous in sharing her journey as a mother. Her tips and insights are valuable for any mother, new or veteran. Plus there is nothing like camaraderie. She set out to build a community of moms and that is exactly what she has done. What a gift to us all! Thank you, Mandy! xx

MCbJ: Tell us about Momma Society.
MR: Momma Society is a blog and Instagram community of modern moms. We celebrate all things pregnancy and motherhood.

MCbJ: What was your inspiration for starting Momma Society?
MR: During my pregnancy, I felt lonely. My social groups were all at different stages in life and I was one of the few starting a family. I craved other moms to connect with, so I turned to Instagram.  The camaraderie and friendships I developed through Instagram evolved into Momma Society, now a thriving community of like-minded mothers.

baby MCbJ: You recently had your first child. Has it been difficult juggling work and being an available mom?
MR: I’ve learned that motherhood will always be a juggling act. Whether it’s balancing life at home or a career outside the house, it’s a constant seesaw. For me, it has meant automating processes and prioritizing so I can fully focus on my role as mother this first year.

MCbJ: How has becoming a mom changed you personally and professionally?
MR: Motherhood has changed me in so many ways. I’ve laughed and smiled more than I ever have before. I’ve also probably cried more than I ever have before. I want to show my sweet little one the world, so the itch to travel has been stronger than ever. Professionally, I decided to scale back on business I had worked on for four years so I could focus on motherhood. I’ve never felt more fulfilled.

MCbJ: What advice do you have for new moms with dreams of having their own business?
MR: Go for it! Never let a baby hold you back from your own dreams.

MCbJ: What do you love about your job?
MR: I love that Momma Society allows me an outlet to record my life at this very moment. I love that I will have the blog posts and photos to look back at and realize how far I have come in my journey as a mother. I love the connections and friendships I have made. I love that I am able to work with brands that I am passionate about. I love that moms across the globe are willing to share experiences and expertise so freely and support each other so selflessly on Momma Society.

MCbJ: How would you describe your own personal style- in clothing and your home?
MR: Classic with a twist. I love clean lines and silhouettes with an unexpected pop of color or print.

  1. Motherhood is the best thing that ever happened to me. It’s the most fulfilling event for me as my two girls made me complete in and out.

Because it is always chic to give.  As moms we are always giving and most of the time it is not even appreciated until our children are much older (let's hope!) So it may seem challenging to give to anyone else, but we should all try no matter how little the amount or the time. Thinking outside of ourselves is good for our hearts and those of our children.
