Maternity Chic : A Dress to Love

This pregnancy I have done something that I have not done in my three prior pregnancies… Buy actual maternity clothing. Ok, to be honest I had purchased two items in my first pregnancy- a pair of jeans and a black tank top, but other than that nothing. I would either size up or buy clothes that were naturally looser fitting.

There were a couple reasons for this: one being that I struggled to find “cute” maternity clothes, and two being that I struggled to “find” cute maternity clothes. In other words, the majority of maternity clothing I did see were not cute and when it came to maternity clothing it was slim pickings. However, this is no longer the case!

There are quite few designers and trendy brands now making maternity clothing.

As seen here Rachel Pally is one of those designers making chic clothing for pregnant mamas. I simply adore the cut of this dress and the way it hugs my belly. It was created to flatter the pregnant body and emphasize the parts we want to show off- the b’s… A.K.A. belly and boobs. The second being especially true for us small chested women that get to flaunt cleavage for once in our lives (or 4 for me 🙂 ). Plus, Rachel Pally clothing is also trés comfortable whether it is maternity or not. I am also a fan of RP’s non-maternity clothing.

Shop >>> See by Chloé Sandals (similar version on sale here)

To find a nice selection of Rachel Pally maternity visit A Pea in the Pod in-person or online. They also carry the gorgeous new Rachel Zoe maternity line.

Other go-to sites for me have been TOPSHOP, H&M and ASOS. They carry maternity clothing that strikes the perfect balance between chic & affordable. Thanks to these stores you can still have fun with fashion without breaking the bank, something that wasn’t always a possibility for the fashionably bored prego.

So I personally want to thank all those I mentioned above for making maternity fashion fun and actually cute! xx

Because it is always chic to give.  As moms we are always giving and most of the time it is not even appreciated until our children are much older (let's hope!) So it may seem challenging to give to anyone else, but we should all try no matter how little the amount or the time. Thinking outside of ourselves is good for our hearts and those of our children.
