The family Christmas card shoot is one I look forward to every year… but I think I might be the only one! Although, based on the way she works the camera, my daughter Isabelle seems like she will eventually enjoy it as well. And then of course there is the dog- crazy Perry the Chihuahua- who also seems quite excited just because he is out of the house. Other than that getting everyone to look at the camera and even perhaps smile can be as painful as a trip to the dentist. Yet I (and most mothers I know) still do it every year.
Why? Because regardless of the the outcome, and whether that “perfect” picture is snapped you still have a precious memory of that time period. When perhaps your 7 year old was missing his front teeth, your four year old grass stained the knees of his dress pants before the photos even began and your baby was a happy camper until she saw a lollipop that if it were not hers at that exact moment then all pictures would have to cease. These are the things we remember when we look at our photos, and (hopefully) with a sweet sigh or giggle you are transported back to that moment in time. This is the magic of photos and why I love them so very much.
Merry Christmas friends and fabulous mommies! May your holidays be filled with memorable moments to last a lifetime! xx
