We had so much fun this week talking about eco-chic products that are not only beneficial to our Mother Earth but that are also good for you. I’ll be the first to admit that trying to live a more of earth-friendly lifestyle can be overwhelming at times. But I learned that even making a small change, such as using a natural and non-toxic laundry detergent, can make a difference.
Today, we’re wrapping up our Eco Week by showing you some of the eco-friendly vacation hot spots where you can travel chic while traveling green. Remember, what’s good for you is good for the planet. xx
Terranea: Located about 20 miles from LAX, this eco-friendly resort is one of the best places for a quick weekend getaway for those of us living in SoCal. The resort is involved with Destination Earth – a program that promotes using less energy and preserving our Mother Earth.
The Harmony Hotel: Located on Guiones beach in Costa Rica, this hotel is inspired by “low key glamour.”
The Harmony has a strong focus on environmental sustainability and local community. The hotel has a farm-to-table approach where 80% of the foods it serves at the Juice Bar and restaurant are sourced from its own farm. It’s the perfect haven for yogis, surfers, and families wanting a relaxing getaway.
Hotelito Desconocido: This eco-friendly beachfront resort is a paradise located in Jalisco, Mexico. The hotel believes in preserving Earth’s natural resources and beauty – it runs on solar power during the day, and light bulbs are replaced by candles. Although you will have limited contact with the outside world, this Mexican eden is the perfect place to go on a real vacation. I wouldn’t mind turning off my iPhone for a week to escape from reality and recharge myself at this breathtaking wonderland.
Spice Island Beach Resort: Located on Grand Anse Beach in St. George’s, Grenada, this gorgeous resort is the perfect spot for blissfully tranquil getaway. The resort has been rebuilt following Hurricane Ivan in 2004. It is one of the most environmentally-conscious properties in the Caribbean – making a commitment on reducing energy, preserving the natural environment, recycling and using eco-friendly products, and educating the employees about conservation efforts. Spice Island Beach Resort also has a supervised children’s club from 9am-5pm daily for those of you with 3-12 year old kiddos. It offers complimentary water sports such as Hobie-cats, snorkeling, and kayaking so that the whole family can enjoy the stay. Now that’s a vacation!
Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort Fiji: This eco-retreat, located on its own private white sand beach in Savusavu (Fiji’s northern island of Vanua Levu) prides itself on taking care of the environment. Recognizing its responsibility to conservation, the resort has its own organic garden, which is maintained by implementing sustainable practices. It also promotes the resort’s current practices by involving and educating young guests – so your kids can play and also learn how nature works and the vital importance to people and our community. Très eco-chic, no?
with love,
