Click Click Chic

There are few moments in life that are as special as those first few weeks with your brand new little angel. Feelings of the deepest love and awe for this new life you brought into the world. However, it all goes by so fast in a sleep deprived haze. For this reason I cherish my newborn photos. These sweet images take me back to this momentous time.

So, today we are featuring the advice of talented photographer Emily Kaszton of Kasz Photography. Not only do I love the pictures she took of my baby girl (pictured in the bottom left), I also love her! Keep this in mind when picking a photographer. You want someone you like to share in your special moments. Your comfort and that of your little love will show in photos, trust me.

Lucky for Southern California MCbJ followers Kasz is offering $50 off their newborn package for anyone that contacts them in the next week.
That is what we call “Click Click Chic”.

As a newborn photographer, I consider it a huge privilege to be invited to spend a little bit of time with parents and their new little bundle (or bundles!) of joy. Since I know photo sessions have the potential to be stressful – and the LAST thing I want to do is add stress to the life of a new parent! – I do everything I can to make the session as relaxed and productive as possible! Below are some tips guaranteed to make your newborn shoot a success, so that I (or whichever photographer you choose) can best capture these sweetest of moments!

1) Put your newborn session on the calendar before your little bundle makes his/her grand entrance. Of course this isn’t always feasible, but we want to capture newborn pics within the first week of life if possible… So, at the very least, schedule it as soon as your darling has arrived! Babies are much sleepier and more easily positioned in those earliest days, so we’ll have better success achieving Pinterest-worthy poses!

2) If you are doing family photos (i.e. planning to put yourself, your spouse, and/or other other siblings in the pics), choose neutral colors without any crazy patterns. The focus should be on the newborn and we want to eliminate visual distractions so as to best highlight your new little baby model.

3) Your photographer will come prepared with props, blankets, hats, etc… but if you have your own, or anything sentimental you would like to include in the session, run with it!

4) On the day of the session, make sure your little one has a full belly 20-30 minutes prior to the session… We want him/her happy and snoozy! It may be necessary to offer more during the session if the baby is still hungry… But rest assured your photographer fully expects this to happen and is more than willing to take breaks for the little one.

5) Have the baby undressed and wearing only a loose diaper. This way there’s less chance of the baby waking up when the diaper is removed for nudie shots, and the diaper won’t leave elastic marks on his or her delicate skin.

Finally, have fun with the shoot! Relax and enjoy watching your little angel during his or her first photo session!

Because it is always chic to give.  As moms we are always giving and most of the time it is not even appreciated until our children are much older (let's hope!) So it may seem challenging to give to anyone else, but we should all try no matter how little the amount or the time. Thinking outside of ourselves is good for our hearts and those of our children.
