Swimsuit Chic + Let’s Get Healthy

Yes mommies, swimsuit season is right around the corner and we here at MCbJ have started scouting our favorites…
And I don’t know about you, but the thought of being in a swimsuit makes me think cleanse time! … My version of a cleanse that is. While I applaud all you women out there that can survive on juice alone for a few days. I, however, am not one of them. I tried it once and then twice… and by the third time I decided it wasn’t for me. At least not at this point in my life.  Starving myself + 3 young kids = bad combination.  Just ask the hubby!

Sooo maybe I will try it at a spa one day when no one has to deal with an angry food deprived me, but me… Oh and the nice people that are getting paid for it.

In the meantime, for me a cleanse means still eating. So I focus on eating clean. No preservatives (read labels!), a lot of vegetables and fruits, lean proteins (I prefer fish), brown rice, quinoa and limited dairy and bread.

I am not a perfect eater (nor do I strive to be), but I have noticed that the more vegetables and fruits I fill myself with the better I feel.  I do like green juices and smoothies, but one a day is good for me. And I still splurge. Wine?  Yes (anyone who knows me knew this already 🙂 ). Dessert?  Yes, but I make it “healthier”.  A bowl of berries with a little creme fraiche or greek vanilla yogurt. I also love a few squares of dark chocolate with sea salt.
For those nights when we eat a few slices of beloved pizza?  I always do something active. Whether it is a jog, walk or spin class at least I am doing something and I am MUCH nicer for it.
So, as we approach swimsuit season let’s “cleanse” together.  All tips and recipes welcome!

PS- getting that fav swimsuit is fabulous motivation… xx

Philanthropy

Because it is always chic to give.  As moms we are always giving and most of the time it is not even appreciated until our children are much older (let's hope!) So it may seem challenging to give to anyone else, but we should all try no matter how little the amount or the time. Thinking outside of ourselves is good for our hearts and those of our children.
