Site Chic Week: Je Ne Sais Quoi

Site Chic Week continues with our fave online stores for a fashion indulgence. These are your “go-to” sites when you want to look and feel luxurious. These are also the places to look for outfit inspo. So even if these items are not in your fashion budget you see what looks to replicate for less. Not to mention, “screen shopping” is totally entertaining. So after the kids have gone to bed, pour yourself a glass of wine and peruse these sites. Oh, and to make online purchases even easier memorize your credit card number. Perhaps, you might even jump in bed. Does it get any better than bed, wine and fashion? Just a little warning that the whole wine and CC memorization thing can be a little dangerous. Good thing most sites have free returns. And even if you do send it all back hopefully you had some fun in the moment. After all, that is what fashion is all about. xx

PS- did we lose you with “screen shopping” ?  It’s “window shopping” for the online consumer.

netaporter The mecca of luxury goods, Net-A-Porter makes a woman (or at least everyone at MCbJ) wish that she could buy everything on this website.  It is one of the world’s most premier online fashion retailers where you can find designer goods – like Oscar de la Renta, Saint Laurent, Marchesa, Cushnie et Och’s, and more.  You’ll also find basic goods by J. Crew, Splendid, and T by Alexander Wang so you can actually take out that credit card out of your wallet.  Also, if you have champagne taste on a beer budget, this is a great place to get styling inspirations from and Net-A-Porter has one of the best sales. The site offers free shipping and returns, which we always love.
Make sure to check out their beauty section – you can buy hard-to-find brands like Stockholm based skin care line Estelle & Thild, celeb-fave beauty goods by La Roche-Posay, and KORA Organics by Miranda Kerr.  If your hubby is fashion-savvy he will love Net-A-Porter’s brother site, MR PORTER.

LR Based in Florence, Italy, LUISAVIAROMA carries contemporary and luxury designer clothes, shoes and accessories, and home furnishings from the likes of Alexander McQueen, Kenzo, Vivienne Westwood, Missoni Home, and premier designers you could possibly think of.  One of the perks of shopping on this website is that you get to see designer collections ahead of time and pre-order the goods so you can get first dibs on coveted pieces before they sell out.  They also carry designer labels for kids (and men’s) so if you like Stella McCartney (btw, how adorbs is this cardi?) and Zadig&Voltaire Kids, this is a one-stop shop for you and the whole family.

mo Want to pre-order designer goods straight from the runway?  Then this is the site for you.  Moda Operandi features trunkshows with various designers for a limited time (about 3-7 days) and you can preorder everything you see on the site.  You may have to wait a few months until you have the order in your hands but it’s definitely worth the wait; especially on the pieces that you know that will sell out once they hit the stores.  Also, even though you do have to wait a couple months to have the tangible goods, one of the pros of preordering is that you pay a 50% deposit at first and you can pay off the rest a couple months later when your order ships.

stylebop STYLEBOP.COM offers both men and women’s designer goods – expect to find Balmain, Maison Martin Margiela, Golden Goose and Prabal Gurung – to fashion lovers around the world.  The site is easy to navigate and don’t forget to check out their fashion editorials under MAGAZINE for inspiration.

The only downside of this e-tailer is their shipping and return policy.  Shipping fee to the U.S. is $25, which is considered pretty high when a lot of their competitors are offering free shipping and returns.  And they have a 14 day return policy so make sure you send back the stuff within that time period to make an exchange or get a refund.

gilt We’re sure you’ve already shopped or at least have heard about Gilt.com.  For those of you who are new to this members-only site, Gilt is an online flash sale website, sharing the same concept as HAUTELOOK.  It may also be considered as a budget-friendly shopping site but Gilt features more high-end contemporary designers, such as 3.1 Phillip Lim, Rachel Zoe, Helmut Lang, and Rebecca Taylor to name a few, compared to its competitors.  You can score some major goodies up to 60% off but still expect to pay at least $100 to over $1,000 for a leather jacket.  Gilt also has men’s and kid’s clothing and accessories; along with Gilt City where you can find deals – from restaurants, hair salons, spas to hotels – local and national.  If you’re looking to find good deals for traveling, check out Jetsetter, Gilt’s private community for exclusive travel deals.

Because it is always chic to give.  As moms we are always giving and most of the time it is not even appreciated until our children are much older (let's hope!) So it may seem challenging to give to anyone else, but we should all try no matter how little the amount or the time. Thinking outside of ourselves is good for our hearts and those of our children.
