With each pregnancy I have found it necessary to purchase a couple of luxurious, but washable pajama sets. The styles I buy are loose enough that I can wear them while pregnant and after. Comfort and nursing ease are my main priorities. Oh, that and still looking as fabulous as possible for the moment.
I also find it necessary to purchase a new pair of slippers and a robe since I spend a lot of time in my cozy gear, especially in the baby’s first few weeks. Not to mention, it is inevitable to feel a little yucky after your baby is born. Between leaking, spit up, humongous pads (first time mom’s beware) and the extra weight still on your body, it is nearly impossible to feel attractive. So, at the very least you should be comfortable.
Now one might think that if you are hanging out in your sleepwear for the majority of the day that there is no point in concerning yourself with what you are wearing. I say the opposite. This is time to make sure you have chic pj’s. I usually go with black or a darker color since it is more slimming and will hide the spit up until you can find the time to change… Which could be a few hours.
You also must have a super soft robe! For me it depends on the season. For the colder months I love my ultra plush spa robe that I picked up from one of the hubby and I’s favorite romantic getaways- The Bel Air Hotel. So not only is the robe super comfy, but it takes me away to that peaceful weekend… For a few seconds and then I am abruptly brought back to the reality of my chaotic household. And yes, this is the reality of having babies and young children. You will be sleep deprived and you will spend more time in sleepwear than ever before. So I say all the more reason to splurge on your comfort items. Because even if you smell funky, haven’t brushed your hair and the circles under your eyes grow larger by the day, at least you still have your chic sleepwear to make you feel just a tiny bit better about yourself. xx
