Ok, I have a confession to make. I got about halfway through this week when all of sudden it dawned on me that I should be featuring items for dads this week! Oppsie! Hubby, this is no reflection on how I feel about you as a father. You are amazing and the children adore you! And same goes to you dad.
So that being said, I realize we are two days away from Daddy’s special day so it’s a little late for an online shopping gift guide – but it is not too late for some of my favorite ways to spoil dad with a thoughtful homemade gift you could do today or tomorrow.
Every year these gifts have been near and dear to the hubby’s heart. They also serve as documentation, preserving that time in his life. I am sure he would agree that there is no greater gift.
Here are some of the gifts that the kids have given their super daddy in the past:
1. A photo collage of the boys from his favorite surf spot. I called on one of my fave photographer’s Emily Kaszton and we worked together to create magic.
2. A canvas painting of the ocean from each of the boys for his office. You can pick up canvases and paint from your local craft store. For us it is Michaels. Their “abstract” paintings are priceless… literally and figuratively.
3. A collector bottle of wine that I traced the kids handprints on with a silver paint pen and wrote the date. We didn’t save the bottle as long as intended ;), but the empty bottle still looks très chic in his office.
4. A coffee table book that the kids sign (or scribble) the inside cover. Don’t forget to include the date.
5. A homemade book. My kids are young so I have to help with the writing, but I love what they come up with when I ask them to tell me a story about their dad. If not for Father’s Day, I recommend doing this for another occasion or just to save in their baby book.
6. An adorable photo of him with his kid(s) in a beautiful, but masculine frame. This is great for the home or office.
Last of all, we make daddy his favorite breakfast with one of my famous lattes.
May you and your family have a fabulous Father’s Day!! xx

We can’t imagine anyone not loving a coupon book filled with great deals! How about a great neck massage? A one-time garage cleaning service? One week off trash duty? A one hour nap time (no interruption, guaranteed)? Or even a coupon for a HUGE hug? The ideas are endless. Umm…when is Mother’s Day next year?
These chalkboard labels have a vintage feel to them that we just can’t get enough of. Everyone at MCbJ love these labels so much not only do we want to use them for Father’s Day, we want to put these labels on everything in our pantry! If you like what you’re seeing as much as we do then thank Lia Griffith of Handcraft Your Life – she has created labels for a dad who loves his beer and wine or a BBQ champion who prides on his secret hand-me-down sauce. If your dad/husband is neither of those, don’t worry. There’s a label for a dad with a major sweet tooth so you can fill up a mason jar with his favorite candies or cookies. If he’s into making homemade jams, chutney, and pickles then there’s a label for him as well.
Here’s a quick and easy gift idea: Line the bottom of a gift basket with raffia. Fill it with his favorite wine/beer, snacks, and homemade cookies or pie with a nice Father’s Day card inside. Now, who wouldn’t love that?
A great way to get your kiddos involved and make dad feel special by filling out this questionnaire. Frame it to make it more memorable and hang it on a wall at home or his office until next Father’s Day.
Thanks to Kinzie’s Kreations, you can easily print out the template here.
This is another quick and easy craft idea that any dad and kids will love! All you have to do is get your kids to stamp their handprints to paint leaves for the tree. Check out this Etsy shop for an instant download and many other printable files as well.
And of course, you should add your handprint. The tree would not be complete without us mommies, right?
We say, “The way to a Dad’s heart is through his stomach.” How about treating him to a fancy breakfast-in-bed this Father’s Day? Get the kids in the kitchen and whip up some delicious french toast (or his fave breakfast menu). Make a special room service delivery on a tray with some coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, and a flower to make him feel like he’s the king…well, at least on this Sunday. 😉
with love,
MCbJ
