In a world of go, go, go, finding time for passions outside of (gasp) kids is tough! This  chic mama however has managed to do just this and to do it in style. Trés mommy chic! xx

MCbJ: When did Juggling In Heels begin and what was your inspiration behind it?
JIH: I started JIH in April 2011 as a way to share my love for fashion, food, interior design and parenting with the many women who are “juggling” it all.  We play so many different roles in life and if I can help someone pull together a date night look, make dinner a little easier or make someone realize they are not alone with some of the struggles we have as parents, then I have done my job.

MCbJ: When do you find time to maintain such a fabulous site while having three young children? Is it hard to find balance?
JIH: What is “balance?”  Haha, yes, at times it can be a bit crazy.  When I first started I would work on the blog at night when everyone was asleep but now that the children are a bit older, I get my posts done while they are at school.  This makes it so much easier.  That being said, it can still be a struggle keeping everything in order so I recently adjusted my publishing schedule from 5 days a week to 3 days a week.  I want to make sure that my content is of the highest quality but being a mom and wife comes first.  I find that sometimes I can easily find the balance.  Other days…not so much.
MCbJ: What advice do you have for aspiring “Mommy Bloggers?”
JIH: First and foremost, share who you are.  Like I said, some days I have it all together, other days, it is pure chaos.  Be honest about that when writing.  I love sharing my favorite designers, looks and such but every now and then I feel the need to simply “let it out” and share what is on my mind.  These tend to be some of my most popular posts.  When your readers know who you are, it engages them in a different way than a simple post on decorating will ever be able to accomplish.  Also, as I said before, quality is really important.  If you do not know what to write, don’t just throw something out there to say you have a post.  Give yourself a day off.  The inspiration will come.
unnamed MCbJ: Now lets talk Fall. What do you look forward to most, both with the family and for fashion?
JIH: With the family it is absolutely the holidays.  This is my absolute favorite time of year.  Not only are there the major holidays but we have four birthdays and an anniversary as well making the Fall months of celebrating.  I just love it.  And to end it all with Christmas, my favorite holiday of the year, makes it really the best time of year.
I also love to get dressed in the Fall.  Layers, knits, boots, leather, coats.  I could go on and on.  Sometimes I think I was meant to live on the East Coast where I could truly wear all the goodness of Fall.  California makes it a bit of a challenge at times but don’t worry, I always find an excuse to layer up…even if I am sweating.  Fashion over comfort, right?

MCbJ: What are your “must-have” items for Fall?
JIH: Where to begin…  These are my absolutes though this list could probably go on for a bit:
Knee High Boots – Stuart Weitzman 5050 boots are on constant repeat
Leather pants
Oversized knits
Hats – Janessa Leone hats are my current favorite
Capes
Backpack Handbag (Mulberry x Cara Delevingne is on the wish list!)
Sneakers – New Balance 420 sneakers in maroon are perfect for Fall!
Plaid – I have a weird obsession with Rails button downs.

MCbJ: Whose style do you admire?
JIH: I absolutely adore Olivia Palermo’s style.  Is there anything she cannot pull off?  I also love the bloggers Damsel in Dior and Could I Have That because they tend to have a similar style to me.  Truthfully, there are so many people that have a style I admire.  I love how so many women just own what they are wearing, regardless of what others are doing.  They wear what they love and it shows.  I admire those people for taking risks at times and being themselves.

MCbJ: What are your “go-to” brands for mommy-friendly clothes that are “Fabulous & Not Frumpy,” of course?
When I need some new heels, it is Manolo BlahnikVince can do no wrong when it comes to their knits.  Everlane makes the perfect v-neck tee and I have more than I can count.  If I need a dress, it will most likely be DVFMaison Du Soir makes the perfect sleepwear for the mom who wants to look adorable for the husband but needs to be appropriate around the children.  I do shop everywhere but these are some of my favorites.

MCbJ: Now how about dressing for the always appreciated date night… what do you feel most beautiful wearing?
JIH: When it comes to date night, I love wearing a dress and heels.  It is not something I get to wear on a daily basis and there is something about dressing up a bit for a date that reminds me that we are not just “mom and dad” but a couple that can still flirt with each other.  It all started with us, didn’t it?!
MCbJ: What do you love most about being a mom?
JIH: It is the hardest thing in the world to do, but also the most rewarding, isn’t it?  What I love most is perhaps watching them grow up.  So often I hear how so many moms want them to stay little, to slow down time, and I get that, but watching them become who they are is the most magical experience.  It is life growing, learning and changing, right before your eyes.  I love it.

MCbJ: What is your favorite day of the week and why?
JIH: Sundays.  It’s family day.  Always has been.  Always will be. 060814_jugglinginheels-492-Edit Image Credit: Juggling In Heels, Vanessa Tierney Photography

Because it is always chic to give.  As moms we are always giving and most of the time it is not even appreciated until our children are much older (let's hope!) So it may seem challenging to give to anyone else, but we should all try no matter how little the amount or the time. Thinking outside of ourselves is good for our hearts and those of our children.
